Preschool Recipes

Norfolk Island Central School produced a cook book from the students & staff plus local businesses.
Minischool was proud to sponsor this for much needed school funds and produced a page of mini treats for after school care and parties.
Here is our page of goodies.

chop bananas & freeze for 1 day.

Remove from freezer and thaw for 15- 20 minutes til slightly softened(most should be still frozen).

Add a quarter cup of vanilla yoghurt and a half a cup of milk (rice, goats or cows)

Use a stick blender to whizz it all up in a big bowl.

When smooth and creamy serve in a mini cone, cup or small bowl with sprinkles on top.

Pancakes

1 cup of self raising flour

1 cup of milk

1 egg

*Quantities can be doubled or tripled. Gluten free flour can be substituted as can rice milk for cows milk.

whisk ingredients together until completely mixed.

pour or ladle desired size into a hot oiled frypan, flip when bubbles appear evenly on the pancake.
Serve in a stack with sliced banana and cream, maple or golden syrup or caramel butter sauce.

For fun, why not colour the batter to make a rainbow stack!

Popcorn balls

Pop the popcorn (we use an air popper)

Place popped popcorn into greased muffin tin.

Prepare caramel in saucepan.

150 grams butter

1 cup of sugar

1 tablespoon of honey

Stir over medium flame until golden brown.

Spoon mixture over the popcorn and add 100’s and thousands or crushes nuts, mini marshmellows etc. (it will set hard and glue the popcorn together) pop the muffin tray into the freezer for 5 minutes as caramel is boiling hot and it smells so good the children want to eat it right away.

Chocolate Freckles

Use white, milk or dark cooking chocolate or large blocks of chocolate

Melt chocolate in microwave in 30 second to 1 minute intervals stirring often

when melted spoon a teaspoon or tablespoon of chocolate on to a tray lined with baking paper and sprinkle with 100’s and 1000’s while still in their melted form. Set in fridge or freezer for a few minutes.
